What is an Access Point?
An access point creates a wireless local area network (WLAN) by connecting to a router or switches via Ethernet cable. Each access point projects a WiFi signal for up to 60 simultaneous connections. These can be positioned to provide a signal boost to areas of intense activity, or to remove black spots. Access points can also serve multiple WiFi signals keeping your private staff network secure from your guest WiFi.
How does this differ from a range extender?
A range extender lengthens the range of an existing WiFi signal. These must be placed in range of the original source and boosts the signal. These are great for home use to illuminate dead zones but does not increase the number of devices able to connect.
